God speaks to each of us as he makes us,
Then walks with us silently out of the night.
These are words we dimly hear:
You, sent out beyond your recall, go to the limits of your longing.
Embody me.
Flare up like flame and make big shadows I can move in.
Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.
Just keep going. No feeling is final.
Don't let yourself lose me.
Nearby is the country they call like.
You will know it by its seriousness.
Give me your hand.
-Rainer Maria Rilke-
I love RMR. so, so much. You know how when you first discover a new word (or whatever) and then it is everywhere? That has been my newfound relationship w/ Rainer. He has been in my everywhere lately. And I think about how imperfect he must have been to have been able to write such glimpses of the perfect. And then that leads me to thoughts about a new (for me) book by Madeleine L'Engle about creativity and Christianity and how she too is becoming a beacon of light. I am trying to listen.

Your having a baby?? Oh, isn't this the best gift. Keep at it, sweetie, you are doing good baking! lol
I send you love and prayers.

You're so sweet Christina <3 but no--no babes in the baby oven (for now). I'm still just trying to process the event from almost two years ago. it may very well take me the rest of my life :)
